This I Know

1) Matthew 5:8 - "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." This verse is on one of my great-great grandmother's grave. I am blessed to come from a family of Christians.  2) James 5:13- " Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing." If you know me, you know I love to sing. There is nothing I'd rather be doing than to be at Indian Creek Youth Camp ball field with no lights on singing with other teenagers with like-faith. Polishing The Pulpit's teen singings may be one of the most beautiful things I will hear on this earth. 3) Romans 8:28- " And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to  His  purpose."     As most of you know, Alabama is expecting some rough weather today. We are up at church building awaiting what is to come. The calm before the storm can be deceiving. Right now in life my family is expecting a "storm" of somewhat. On April 3rd my baby brother will have to have a heart cath done. If this doesn't work, there is a possibility he will have to have another open heart surgery this year. I know he will be okay.        One verse that I've found comforting is Psalm 34:18 " The   Lord   is near to   the brokenhearted   and saves  the crushed in spirit." Trials are not fun, but they are something we as humans have to go through and should expect to go through. Verses like this should be reassuring to us. Any trial here on earth will be nothing once we get to our eternal reward. One of my favorite verses is Revelation 2:10 " Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. At the time I’m writing this, not much is going on in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a busy person and I always have something to do. BUT these next few years will be a period of waiting. Waiting for the unknown, waiting for knowledge, waiting for that certain person to come along.. There’s so many things I could name, but I am very content.     One verse that stuck out to me in my Bible study the other day was Lamentations 3:25-27. “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. It is good to wait quietly for deliverance from the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.” Another good verse is Ecclesiastes 7:8 “The end of a matter is better than its beginning; a patient spirit is better than a proud spirit.” ‭‭ This was a short blog post, but I hope you got something out of it! :)

Dear Future Husband, Hi, my name is Addi. I would hope you already know that. I sure hope you exist. I have so many questions. Do you like camp? Do you like Disney? Do you like Star Wars? Is the dress black and blue, or yellow and gold? What kind of music do you like? Are you an Auburn fan? Most importantly, do you love God? I hope the question to the last one is yes.  I’m pretty lame. Some days I’ll call myself awesome, it depends on the mood. I’m 15 years old now. I don’t really like driving, so I hope you do. I like to cook, so be prepared to gain weight or take up running or something. I basically live at church camp in the summer. This week I had the privilege to get to go to the Freed Hardeman lectureships for a couple of days. I heard many good lectures, but one of the best was one about habitual sin. It got me to thinking about TRUE repentance. I have been really enjoying some of C.S. Lewis quotes lately. Here is one to get us thinking. “As long as he doesn't convert it into action, it does not matter how much a man thinks about his repentance.” I think sometimes we can get the dangerous mindset that repentance is our safety net and will be there if we just say a prayer. It’s not there for us to abuse. We have to have a willing heart to serve God. 1st Chronicles 28:9 says ““As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.” ‭God knows our intent. We can be the “perfect...

“I hope we go out for mexican food after worship.” “Aw, that baby is soooo cute!!” “The preacher preaches mighty long this morning..” I know all of these things have passed through my mind during worship. What about yours? 1st Corinthians 11:28 says “Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” The church in Corinth had many, many problems. One of them being that they judged one another more than they judged themselves. Paul encouraged them to change their ways. “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Proverbs‬ ‭4:25‬ I know my main goal in life is to get to Heaven. (Rev 2:10) How can we do that if we’re focused on worldly things? If you were training for the olympics, you wouldn’t go out and mess up all your training by eating cake or pizza, would you? Throughout all of my instagram and Facebook feed, I can scroll through endless selfies. Not that there’s anything wrong with taking a selfie every once and a while, I do so myself. It’s one of my pet peeves when I see a singular Christian’s feed just filled with selfies and things that don’t really matter rather than letting their lights shine. It got me to think of a verse that we all should know good and well. Matthew 5:16 says “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Instead of posting things that aren’t very Christ-like, we should strive to let our Christian lights shine through us. (1st Corinthians 11:1)  One of my favorite songs is “I Am Mine No More.” It’s a simple song with a lot of meaning.
