I Am Not Worthy

Image
I am not worthy. You aren't either. As I was scrolling through a Bible journaling hashtag page on Instagram, a certain post stood out. It was a so called "Christan" Instagram account directed toward young women. I could barely believe what I was seeing. The post was supposed to be a post to I guess "encourage"women to have confidence in themselves. At the very end in bold print it proclaimed "YOU ARE WORTHY OF EVERYTHING." I tell you this not to point out this Instagram account's mistake, I tell you this so we can be remind that, well, we are not worthy and never will be. 1) Not one soul is worthy of God's grace.           In Romans 3:23 we are reminded that "all have sinned and fallen short in the glory of God." On the days we feel the most unworthy, know every single person you have come in contact is the same. As we know, no sin is greater than another. James 2:10 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumble...

Doubt

This month I am doing a daily scripture writing challenge on the topic of beating anxiety. Yesterday the verse was Mark 11:24. I've read it before, but I guess I have never noticed the significance of it. I like how the NASB translates it. "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you."    You see, in this verse Jesus isn't saying prayer is a way to get anything your heart desires. Jesus is urging us to pray for everything, believe that Christ can do it, and place no doubt in our hearts. The verse before this says "I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him."      I love how this says "does not doubt in HIS HEART." I think it really shows that doubt is an issue that comes from deep inside. It ...

Godly Woman

Image
As Mother's Day approaches I've been thinking about all the strong Godly women I have in my life. I have too many to name.  I pray daily that one day I can be half the example some ladies are to me. I pray I can be the women that people go to for prayers, guidance, and advice. I sure got a long way to go. ;) Let's look at some attributes of a woman who fears our God. 1)  A Godly Woman Is Giving          Proverbs 31:20 says "She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hand to the needy." A woman of God is not selfish. The woman in this chapter is "#Goals" as my generation would say. Selfishness is something I think everyone has struggled with at one point or another. We need to pray to have a "cheerful heart" when giving as 2nd Corinthians 9:7 says. 2) A Godly Woman Speaks Truth         I am an introvert. Sometimes I struggle to speak for what's right when others are doing wrong, and that is somet...

Prayer

Image
I think prayer is something every Christian has struggled with in their walk. I know for me it's always easier to pray in hard times than in good times. We shouldn't have the habit of only praying for us and our needs. Colossians 4:2 reminds us to keep "an attitude of thanksgiving" when praying. What are some other forms of prayer?     We need to pray for each other. James 5:16 says "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."Prayer isn't a joke, folks. We should not be ashamed of asking others for prayer. Everyone sins and everyone struggles.(Ecclesiastes 7:20) Pray for your brethren and let them pray for you.        We need to pray for our future. A verse I see a lot is Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you, declares the  Lord , plans for welfare [ a ]  and not for evil,  to give you a fut...

I Am

“I Am.” These two simple words can have so much meaning. In the Bible we see this phrase used in Exodus 3:14. “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Who is I AM? How can we ever begin to realize how powerful I AM is? The mysterious power of I AM is undeniably there. Let’s think and ponder on some of the qualities of I AM.        First, I AM is awesome. No, not the kind of awesome we use to describe that new super cool movie, the kind of awesome we can’t understand. Deuteronomy 10:17 says “For the Lord your God is God of all gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.” Meriam Webster dictionary describes awesome as “an inspiring awe.” We need to have an attitude like David has in Psalm 65:8. “They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your sig...

My Top Five Favorite Bible Verses

1) Matthew 5:8 - "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." This verse is on one of my great-great grandmother's grave. I am blessed to come from a family of Christians.  2) James 5:13- " Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing." If you know me, you know I love to sing. There is nothing I'd rather be doing than to be at Indian Creek Youth Camp ball field with no lights on singing with other teenagers with like-faith. Polishing The Pulpit's teen singings may be one of the most beautiful things I will hear on this earth. 3) Romans 8:28- " And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to  His  purpose." I just love this verse. 4) Psalm 147:4-" He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name." Just imagine how much God cares for YOU. 5) The Entire Chapter Of Proverbs 31 ...

In The Storm

Image
As most of you know, Alabama is expecting some rough weather today. We are up at church building awaiting what is to come. The calm before the storm can be deceiving. Right now in life my family is expecting a "storm" of somewhat. On April 3rd my baby brother will have to have a heart cath done. If this doesn't work, there is a possibility he will have to have another open heart surgery this year. I know he will be okay.        One verse that I've found comforting is Psalm 34:18 " The   Lord   is near to   the brokenhearted   and saves  the crushed in spirit." Trials are not fun, but they are something we as humans have to go through and should expect to go through. Verses like this should be reassuring to us. Any trial here on earth will be nothing once we get to our eternal reward. One of my favorite verses is Revelation 2:10 " Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to thro...
