Godly Woman

      As Mother's Day approaches I've been thinking about all the strong Godly women I have in my life. I have too many to name.  I pray daily that one day I can be half the example some ladies are to me. I pray I can be the women that people go to for prayers, guidance, and advice. I sure got a long way to go. ;) Let's look at some attributes of a woman who fears our God.


1)  A Godly Woman Is Giving

         Proverbs 31:20 says "She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hand to the needy." A woman of God is not selfish. The woman in this chapter is "#Goals" as my generation would say. Selfishness is something I think everyone has struggled with at one point or another. We need to pray to have a "cheerful heart" when giving as 2nd Corinthians 9:7 says.

2) A Godly Woman Speaks Truth

        I am an introvert. Sometimes I struggle to speak for what's right when others are doing wrong, and that is something I need to work on. Matthew 28:19 reminds us to "Go and make disciples...." These are people's souls we are talking about. Their soul is more important than our fears. Let's speak truth!

3) A Godly Woman Is Beautiful Inside

        I think everyone struggles with self image and how they view their body at one point or another.  I know I have. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 31:30 "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Outward beauty should not be our number one goal. Yes girls, that boy at summer camp may be cute, but just being "cute" won't attract the godly men we should want. We must strive to be beautiful inside.

I hope looking at these verses has been beneficial for you. I know it was a good reminder for me.

Repentance

This week I had the privilege to get to go to the Freed Hardeman lectureships for a couple of days. I heard many good lectures, but one of the best was one about habitual sin. It got me to thinking about TRUE repentance. I have been really enjoying some of C.S. Lewis quotes lately. Here is one to get us thinking. “As long as he doesn't convert it into action, it does not matter how much a man thinks about his repentance.” I think sometimes we can get the dangerous mindset that repentance is our safety net and will be there if we just say a prayer. It’s not there for us to abuse. We have to have a willing heart to serve God. 1st Chronicles 28:9 says ““As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.” ‭God knows our intent. We can be the “perfect...

Doubt

           This month I am doing a daily scripture writing challenge on the topic of beating anxiety. Yesterday the verse was Mark 11:24. I've read it before, but I guess I have never noticed the significance of it. I like how the NASB translates it. "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you."    You see, in this verse Jesus isn't saying prayer is a way to get anything your heart desires. Jesus is urging us to pray for everything, believe that Christ can do it, and place no doubt in our hearts. The verse before this says "I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him."      I love how this says "does not doubt in HIS HEART."
