I Am Not Worthy

I am not worthy. You aren't either. As I was scrolling through a Bible journaling hashtag page on Instagram, a certain post stood out. It was a so called "Christan" Instagram account directed toward young women. I could barely believe what I was seeing. The post was supposed to be a post to I guess "encourage"women to have confidence in themselves. At the very end in bold print it proclaimed "YOU ARE WORTHY OF EVERYTHING." I tell you this not to point out this Instagram account's mistake, I tell you this so we can be remind that, well, we are not worthy and never will be.

1) Not one soul is worthy of God's grace.

In Romans 3:23 we are reminded that "all have sinned and fallen short in the glory of God." On the days we feel the most unworthy, know every single person you have come in contact is the same. As we know, no sin is greater than another. James 2:10 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all." I am as unworthy as any prisoner in jail. None of us can deserve grace of any kind, yet we do.

2) Works do not make you worthy.

Yes, faith without works is dead, but we are not worthy because of our works. I'm sure you have heard Ephesians 2:10. Lets take a look at it. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would work in them." Good works are expected of us, therefore worthiness cannot come from them.

3) Yet, we are still treated like we are worthy.

If we are obedient to God's law, we will still get a reward one day. After all the sin we have/will commit in our short life on earth, Christians will still get the honor of being in the everlasting presence of God. We will get honor of being in the presence of the only worthy one. I can't wait.
